Online Community Gathering ~ If Our Courage Is Not To Fail Us
Dear Community,
More than 330 people joined together on Thursday, March 19th, to set aside fear and reaffirm community, connection, meditative practices, and the meaning of our new experiences, with John Bloom, Angela Foster, and Linda Bergh.

A Verse for Our Time
We must eradicate from the soul
All fear and terror of what comes towards man out of the future.
We must acquire serenity
In all feelings and sensations about the future.
We must look forward with absolute equanimity
To everything that may come.
And we must think only that whatever comes
Is given to us by a world-directive full of wisdom.
It is part of what we must learn in this age,
namely, to live out of pure trust,
Without any security in existence.
Trust in the ever present help
Of the spiritual world.
Truly, nothing else will do
If our courage is not to fail us.
And let us seek the awakening from within ourselves
Every morning and every evening.

Can anyone say, definitively, where this “Verse for Our Time” came from? It’s been floating around for some time – and I keep getting asked where it comes from. The closest I’ve found is some reference to the date 11-27-1919 – but I’ve looked at the only lecture given on that date (in German) and find nothing like it within. I’m hoping that at some later date I might look back here and find an answer…
I read in book On Fear Spiritual Perspectives of this verse and in the reference it mentioned lecture in Bremen 27November 1910 booklet 98. I did not check it yet.

I am trying to remember, myself. I believe the fragment is earlier, given in a pre WW I lecture. I think I recall being told it was given to prepare people for what Steiner knew was to come.
Then, at some point, I read that lecture and thought oh; here it is. Now it all fits in to a larger picture.
Unfortunately, my memory neither holds that precise lecture nor is always reliable; but this is what I recall.
Perhaps look earlier.
