Followed by a Used Book Sale to Benefit the Rudolf Steiner Library
How can we begin to understand the Festival of Whitson (Pentacost)? Often the event is depicted by the tongues of flame descending on the circle of disciples with Mary, the mother of Christ as its center. Rudolf Steiner said in the lecture “Search for the New Isis, the Divine Sophia: the Quest for the Isis-Sophia,” (December 14, 1920):
“WE DO NOT LACK CHRIST; BUT THE KNOWLEDGE OF CHRIST, THE SOPHIA OF CHRIST, THE ISIS OF CHRIST IS LACKING.”
Sophia, the Wisdom of God, was with God from the beginning of creation. What does it mean that there will be a New Creation? Is this related to finding the Sophia of Christ and how can Mary, the center of the Whitson event, be our example? We will explore these themes with music, eurythmy, recitation, art work, and a talk by Tish Pierce.
Flower Exchange: Celebrating our connection to each other in the community, we invite you to come with a flower and leave with one brought by someone else.
Please also stay to have refreshments and shop for some good used anthroposophical books to benefit the Rudolf Steiner Library and meet the new libriarian, Zoi Doehrer.
