A TALK BY ANDREW WOLPERT ON RUDOLF STEINER’S LAST ADDRESS

As Michaelmas approaches in this hundredth-year commemoration (1923-2023), we have carried the spirit of transformation from the Burning of the Goetheanum to the laying of the Foundation Stone through a number of Branch offerings with more to come. It has been our good fortune to learn that Andrew Wolpert is here from the UK to attend Fire in the Temple in Copake and will give a lecture in Spring Valley on the way to our area. He has agreed to stay in Harlemville and will offer this lecture, which focuses on the last address Rudolf Steiner was able to give before his death. If we have the courage to respond to Michael’s “wise sign,” the Manichean principle of bringing the Light into the Darkness may resonate in our will. We cannot avoid the darkness, but what can we do that the Darkness comprehend the Light?

Andrew Wolpert has worked internationally as lecturer and course leader in the fields of Art History, Shakespeare, Parzival, Christology, and other anthroposophical themes. He led the “Spirit of English” course at Emerson College in England, was co-editor of the Golden Blade, and led the English Course at the Freie Hochschule in Stuttgart. He coordinates the Humanities Section of the School of Spiritual Science in Great Britain.
