A LECTURE BY MICHAEL LIPSON, FOLLOWED BY DISCUSSION

On Sunday, May 21st from 3 – 5 pm at the Mettabee “Hive,” Michael Lipson, PhD, will offer a lecture and group discussion on the topic of “Gentle Will”

Our everyday intentions are driven by purposes, and these purposes serve the “ego” in the lower sense of that word. This can very well apply to spiritual or altruistic purposes too. The Gentle, Soft, or Reversed Will spoken of by Steiner and Kuehlewind is something completely different. It has a different flavor, origin and effect. This is the will we find in artistic pursuits of all kinds as well as in the graced moments of spiritual practice. It is the true reality of each of us.

Michael Lipson, PhD, is a Clinical Psychologist in private practice in Great Barrington, MA. A life-long student of Anthroposophy, he has translated Rudolf Steiner’s Philosophy of Freedom as well as numerous books by Georg Kuehlewind. He has also published three books on spiritual practice: The Stairway of Surprise and Group Meditation both from SteinerBooks and just out in 2022 “BE: An Alphabet of Astonishment.” For over 20 years, along with traveling to guide workshops internationally, he has led a long-term weekly meditation group. Michael’s work builds on his study of both Western and Eastern spiritual traditions, as well as on his time with Mother Theresa in Calcutta, India and his decade of service in Harlem Hospital’s pediatric AIDS team in New York City. Find out more and sign up for his online meditation group and newsletter at michaellipson.org
