CELESTIAL TALK BY MARY STEWART ADAMS
THE FOUNDATION STONE MEDITATION PERFORMED BY EURYTHMY SPRING VALLEY ENSEMBLE
Sponsored by the Threefold Branch and Eurythmy Spring Valley

As one of the highest festivals of the word, the eurythmy performance of the Foundation Stone Meditation was first presented on Easter Sunday in 1924. Rudolf Steiner began creating the form immediately following the conclusion of the Christmas Conference, at which he undertook the ceremony of laying the rhythms of the Foundation Stone Meditation into the hearts of those called to the path of anthroposophy in life.

Easter 1924 was on Sunday, April 20, which means that this year, April 20 marks the 99th anniversary of this Foundation Stone eurythmy “deed.” April 20 in 2023 also marks the onset of this year’s eclipse cycle, with a solar eclipse that will cast its shadow primarily across parts of the southern hemisphere. At solar
eclipse, a unique opportunity presents itself, a consideration of which will be presented at this festive occasion.

“The movements form themselves into a cosmic writing, but the writing is not mute, it actually sounds into the Universe. Such is the writing of the stars, by our own deeds inscribed into the cosmic spaces.”
~ Rudolf Steiner, 19 November 1922
