LIVE CONCERT AND PRESENTATION BY GRIGORY SMIRNOV AND CHRISTOPH GRIEDER (PIANO AND CELLO)

A composer’s outlook on the mystery of music creation and musical expression. Music as a form of higher communication and spiritual activity. The presentations will focus on Grigory Smirnov’s composition “Chaconne” for cello and piano (2013), which explores the dualism of melody and harmony as an expression of the relation of the individual to the spiritual environment in its process of development. This event will include a live performance and a special guided listening journey through the musical composition.

Grigory Smirnov is a pianist and composer working with Eurythmy Spring Valley — the school and performing ensemble. His compositions have been performed on major stages worldwide, such as Carnegie Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, Tanglewood Festival, and Moscow Philharmonic Hall. As a pianist, he performs classical and improvisational music, his own compositions, and music for eurythmy. Originally from Siberia, Russia, he came to the United States in 2008 to continue his studies at The Juilliard School in New York City. During the recent years, he has been actively working in the Threefold Community in Spring Valley, NY. Grigory Smirnov will be joined by the cellist Christoph Grieder who also regularly performs with Eurythmy Spring Valley. More about Grigory Smirnov: www.grigorysmirnov.com.
