This year marks the 100th anniversary of the fire at the first Goetheanum, and we warmly invite you to join us in commemorating this significant event in Camphill California’s Paloma Hall, in the afternoon of New Year’s Eve.

Here is an overview and timeline of the events for Saturday, December 31, 2022:
2:30-3:30:
Holy Nights Reading
of “The Gospel of St John and Its Relation to the Other Gospels”. This reading will be facilitated by Wanda Taylor and is open to everyone.

3:30-4:15:
Social Time with Refreshments.
Wanda will be reaching out and coordinating this activity.

4:15-6:00:
Festive Commemoration of the Centenary of the Fire at the Goetheanum.
This is meant to be a community festival and will not have an entrance fee.

For this festive commemoration, our intention is to create and build up a collaborative imagination and experience through various sharing & contributions, all in the spirit of connecting to the Being of this building and to the Being of Anthroposophia. Depending on the extent of these contributions, we might still have some time for reflections and conversations following the presentations.

You are invited to come and offer a personal contribution, which can have many different forms:
It can be an individual presentation, or a group activity. It can be artistic and creative, for example a song, a eurythmy exercise, a piece of poetry or other speech activity, a drawing or a painting.

It can be the sharing of some personal reflections, or maybe something of a biographical nature that connects you to this building. Or it can be offering some insights about a theme that relates to this event for example: other significant fires in history, Goethe’s influence on Steiner, the colored glass windows, the Foundation Stone ceremony, etc.

Please note that all are welcomed, whether they are incline to contribute in this way or not. Your presence is in itself a wonderful contribution! Nevertheless, if you are inspired to offer a contribution, please email us ahead of time: Coleman Lyles, coleman@camphillca.org, and Philipp Jacob, philipp@camphillca.org. Let us know in a few words what you have planned to share, and how much time approximately will be needed, so that we can organize our time together.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you!
