Northern California and Nevada Regional Conference for Waldorf Early Childhood Teachers with Keynote Speaker Nancy Blanning
Friday, November 10, 2023 | 6 pm-9 pm
Saturday, November 11, 2023 | 8:30 am-4 pm
How can we help children grow the strength they need to meet our times? Supporting children in the development of their senses, as they navigate their way into their bodies, is a vital aspect of our work. It is the first work of the young child and creates the health, strength, and self-assurance that they will need as adults to meet the challenges of our world with courage.
Esteemed educator and advocate for a healthy childhood, Nancy Blanning, will guide explorations into the essential senses of touch, life, movement, and balance.
There will be workshops, puppetry, singing, and time to share our “roses and thorns.”
Participants may choose to participate in this conference either in-person or online. Online participants will join the keynote lectures and plenums, and will have separate online discussion groups. The conference is open to teachers working in Early Childhood at school and home-based programs.
Nancy Blanning is an early childhood educator with a special interest in movement and “incarnational support” for young children. She served as kindergarten teacher and educational support staff at the Denver Waldorf School, from which she recently retired after almost 40 years. She is co-director of early childhood teacher training at Sunbridge Institute in Spring Valley, NY, and serves as guest faculty at other teacher training programs. Additionally, she is co-director with Dr. Adam Blanning and colleague Laurie Clark for “Nurturing the Roots,” an advanced course for experienced teachers to develop observational and support skills to assist young children.
She writes columns for Lilipoh Magazine on behalf of WECAN, and is editor for the WECAN journal, Gateways. She is author of Walking with Our Children: Parents as Companions and Guides. She and Laurie Clark have authored Movement Journeys and Circle Adventures, Vol. 1 and 2.
