A TALK BY HANS SCHUMM

The nine sketches were created between May 25th and October 25th, 1922, two months before the burning of the First Goetheanum. They survived the fire as they were kept in Rudolf Steiner’s studio in the Carpenter’s Building.

These rather simple creations by no means represent any naturalistic depiction, but rather reveal how nature was and is created by invisible living, etheric forces in unison with their partners, the elements, as guided by spiritual beings.

Unfortunately, the sketches are still widely unknown and are waiting to be more deeply understood and worked with artistically according to their inherent color-context.

The painter Gerard Wagner once uttered: “They do not depict, they live!”
A detailed overview of the sketches’ history, content, and how to work with them artistically will be presented, including hands-on painting demonstrations.
