NOVEMBER ONLINE WORKSHOP WITH SANDRA LaGREGA AND JENNIFER FOX, AND HARP MUSIC WITH CINDY SAAS
Caring for our loved ones at their time of death…
We will meet after All Souls Day in the Christian tradition, a time when those who have departed are closer to us than during other times during the cycle of the year. It is a time to recognize, remember, and offer love, gratitude, and warmth to the “so-called dead.” This gathering is an invitation to step into Kairos time, or “time out of mind,” a place where the mystery looms large, and the veils between the worlds are partially lifted.
Bringing deathcare back into the purview of our families and communities allows us to infuse the process with beauty, reverence, and meaning. Home deathcare is both an ancient and new tradition. This “do-it-ourselves” methodology, seen in the expanding green burial and home funeral movements, stems from a desire for a more affordable, personal, and honorable process that is infused with our deeply held values and desires to care for our own at death. The practices are easy to learn, empowering, and deeply rooted in community. Join us for a beautiful experience as we explore all aspects of caring for our loved ones at death, before, during, and afterwards.
Sandra LaGrega co-founded the Sophia Center for Life Studies in central North Carolina and served as president and chair for 25 years. She has been deeply involved in community-centered natural death care, helping families navigate the process of “caring for their own at death” through education, support, and hands-on assistance. Sandra also served on the national board of Crossings: Caring for Our Own at Death, a pioneer organization in this field.
Passionate about creating small, community-based death care networks, Sandra has spent nearly 40 years studying anthroposophy and spiritual psychology, with a special focus on biography and social art.
Sandra completed certification through the Center for Biography and Social Art and is an active member of the Association of Biography and Social Art Workers. She is also part of the Center for Conscious Living/Conscious Dying and the National Home Funeral Alliance. She was on the founding board of CBSA.
Jennifer Fox is a life-long seeker, elder, grandmother of five, and great-grandmother of three. Born into a family of doctors and funeral directors, she has carried her passion for the mysteries of living and dying through her life journey by learning, studying, and practicing many streams of health, wellness, and hospice care. She holds certification in a variety of healing modalities as well as Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Communication Science, Audiology, and Education of the Hearing Impaired from Northwestern University. Jennifer worked in these fields both clinically and in research before meeting Anthroposophia. Since that meeting over 40 years ago, Jennifer has devoted her life path to a deepening understanding of the “great mysteries of comings and goings,” diving into them anew through studying, practicing, and teaching Biography and Social Art (BSA) and the Social Art of Death Care locally and nationally for the past 30 years.
Each workshop on Zoom includes small group exercises and reflections shared in the full group. We will use artistic and imaginative exercises to open up biographical experiences. And, as always, we will practice listening deeply.
After registering, you will receive a Zoom link a day prior to the workshop.
Monthly workshops are not recorded to respect the confidentiality of participants.
