PART OF THE HICKORY PROGRAM SPEAKER SERIES
The course of the 20th and early 21st centuries saw a marked shift in attitudes towards individuals with disabilities, and an earnest attempt to recognize the importance of their membership in society: culturally, economically, and socially. What lessons can be applied more broadly to our own lives, that have their roots in this endeavor?
Join us on Friday, November 15 at 3:30 pm in the Music Room as Joe Harris presents an exploration of empathy, self-knowledge, and forgiveness, as tools of the therapeutic educator, parent, and community member. Open to the public; donations welcomed to support The Hickory Program at Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School.
This talk will encompass a range of important topics that are relevant to all children, not just those who are neuro divergent.
Joe Harris is Co-director of the Place Based Learning Center at Hawthorne Valley Farm. He was a Waldorf class teacher for ten years and holds certifications in special education and anthroposophical curative education. He also has a master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
