HARVESTING LATE-SUMMER COLORS WITH MIHO SUZUKI
This workshop is an introduction to the dye plants and dyeing projects that are characteristic of the end of summer. We will start the day harvesting flowers, leaves, and roots from our biodynamic dye plant garden. As we deepen our acquaintance and receive the beautiful colors of the plants, we feel the healing energy of the plant world. Back at the Studio, we will introduce 4 different natural materials and dye a variety of natural fiber items with our harvest:
- Organic cotton Napkin, 20″ square
- Silk gift bag, 6.5″X 11″ Habotai silk pouch with matching silk tie
- Wool Gauze scarf, 8″ x 54″
- Linen square fabric 11″ x 33″ or 19″ square with fresh Japanese indigo, madder root, yellow cosmos, dyer’s coreopsis, and marigold
Participants will also be able to play with some shibori and eco-printing techniques to create unique fabric or useful items. All materials are included in the registration fee.
Enrollment is limited, and pre-registration is required. 16 years old & up.
