Gloria Kemp first encountered anthroposophy when she moved to New York City in 1969 to go to graduate school. She found housing in a home where several anthroposophists lived and that changed her life. Gloria first visited Hawthorne Valley in the early 1980s to participate in the Holy Nights Arts Conferences organized by Christy Barnes. Later on, as a class teacher at the Rudolf Steiner School NYC, she brought her classes to the Visiting Students Program for their yearly week-long farm stay at Hawthorne Valley Farm. This connection led to her serving on the VSP Advisory Circle and as Board Member for HVA.

Gloria served as a delegate to AWSNA (Association of Waldorf Schools of North America) and later became president of the Board. For 25 years, she was a Board member and later President of Waldorf Schools Fund. She also served on the board of RSF (Rudolf Steiner Foundation) as chair of the Gifts and Grants Committee. After graduating her second class in NYC, she developed and directed a summer teacher training program in Ann Arbor for six years. In 1997, she moved to Hawthorne Valley full time and, yearning to return to teaching children, became a class teacher at Hawthorne Valley School.

See you at the library!
