KEYNOTE ADDRESS BY PETER SELG FOR CONVOCATION OF KAIROS 2024-2025
Healing in a World of Need — Kairos is dedicated to finding the courage, skills, and capacities to bring healing modalities to human encounters. Trauma, loneliness, fear, anxiety, cumulative stress, suicidal ideation, and many other challenges may be addressed with nonverbal artistic therapies to support the harmonization of spirit, soul, and body. This re-awakens presence and renewed life participation. Such work helps strengthen inner resilience that may begin to resonate with the forces of goodness and love.
We are aware that 2024 marks 100 years since Rudolf Steiner introduced the concept of healing education in his 12 lectures, then titled The Curative Education Course, to a small group of people. In this course, he lit a soul light that had the capacity to shine beyond normal confines. Today, over 50 countries worldwide work inspired by these lectures to bring healing gestures to people with diverse needs and abilities.
Dr. Peter Selg joins us online to discuss this international healing impulse. As Kairos, we want to align ourselves with this spiritual mandate: we can become healing medicine for one another.
Dr. Peter Selg studied medicine in Witten-Herdecke, Zȕrich, and Berlin; and, until 2000, worked as the head physician of the juvenile psychiatry department of Herdecke Hospital in Germany. Dr. Selg is director of the Ita Wegman Institute for Basic Research into Anthroposophy (Arlesheim, Switzerland), professor of medicine at the Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences (Germany), and co-leader of the General Anthroposophical Section at the Goetheanum. He is the author of numerous books on Rudolf Steiner, anthroposophy, medical ethics, and the development of culture and consciousness.
