AN ONLINE PRESENTATION BY KIMBERLY LEWIS
The Swedish artist Hilma af Klint has received enormous attention in recent years for her astonishing, abstract work that was hidden away for 80 years after her death. As a beloved artist, Hilma has become the most well-known anthroposophist in the world. (Because of her popularity, millions of people are hearing about Steiner and anthroposophy for the first time.) Hilma’s most renowned work was The Paintings for the Temple: 193 paintings in fourteen series for an imagined spiral-shaped temple. However, as more research is emerging, it appears that these paintings were a group effort, not a solo one. Anna Cassel, Hilma’s long-time friend, seems to have been a collaborator. Come learn more about their mission, their work, and their friendship.
