A WORKSHOP WITH ARTIST ELLA LAPOINTE AND RYAN SHEA
Keeping a nature journal of field notes (writing) and sketches (drawing) is an exercise that is hundreds of years old and used by the whole range of naturalists, from complete beginners to accomplished experts, and from landscape painters to evolutionary biologists. This workshop is an introduction to the practice of nature journaling, focusing on the world of plants.
In drawing, we seek not to complete perfect works of art, but rather to attune our observations more carefully to the appearance of specific plants.
In writing, we seek not to express our own thoughts and emotions, but rather to enter into a penetrating conversation with a few plants in order to let the plants express themselves through us.
These two artistic practices come as an intimate pair.
Sliding Scale Fee: $50 to $200
Please register by October 15. Email or call 518-672-0116 between 9 and 12, M-F.
