Sacred Sound in Sacred Form from the Sacred in Trees

A new musical instrument, unique in all history, was given to Tobias to make during a meditation in 1986. Over 5 years of development brought these to the point where the NHS became the principle customer, using them in hospice, psychiatric, and special education as well as other fields of care. Cambridge University conducted a scientific trial in a leading psychiatric secure hospital over a number of years, and concluded that these instruments are more effective than any other hand held instrument. “Wherever one of these stringed Sounding Bowls is introduced,” said the senior researcher at Cambridge, “the work immediately goes deeper, people seem to drop into their hearts and begin to make progress.” Today, there are over 700 Sounding Bowls in the world, working on all continents. Many in private hands, many in institutions. Everywhere making a difference to lives.

Tobias will introduce us to the instruments themselves, show us some different types, tell us a little of the history, the making process and about the trees, whose spirit is carried through the work in specific ways so that they can sing in the finished piece. Plus, of course, he will play for us. This will be a treat for your eyes, ears, and spirit.

Tobias Kaye adopted anthroposophy in his late teens after searching through a few other streams of development for something to match the richness of his upbringing. Born on a biodynamic farm and Waldorf educated, he has focused his inner life on service to Christ on the path of initiation/awakening. Since he was given this image, at the age of 30, the Sounding Bowls have become his main guide, and enabled his desire to bring something of value. Today, Tobias also runs groups, guiding people in the seven developmental processes through Steiner’s legacy, particularly the Foundation Stone Meditation. Tobias also writes, recently contributing a chapter on tree communication for a forthcoming book.
