A PUBLIC TALK AND READING WITH POET AND PHILOSOPHER LUKE FISCHER
Luke Fisher will speak of several poets who have inspired his approach to writing about the natural world. He will also explore how Goethean science can enable us to develop a poetic vision of nature. This free talk will be followed by Luke reading several of his poems.
Based in Sydney, Australia, Luke Fischer’s interdisciplinary works explore connections between poetry, philosophy, and the environment. They include three books of poetry and the monograph The Poet as Phenomenologist: Rilke and the New Poems. He guest-edited a special section on “Goethe and Environmentalism” in the Goethe Yearbook (2015) and co-edited The Seasons: Philosophical, Literary, and Environmental Perspectives.
