“Things Have Changed” — inspiration, destiny, & sacrifice in an American Musical Life
a presentation in honor of Bob Dylan’s 80th Birthday — and in the Spirit of Pentecost
by John Scott Legg
Monday, May 24 at 8 p.m.
On May 24, 2021, the American musician, singer, and songwriter Bob Dylan will turn 80 years old. To mark the occasion, and to acknowledge the significance of the man and something of his unique, widely intuited, but perhaps-not-yet-able-to-be-fully-grasped contribution to the world, John Scott Legg will offer a friendly, festive cultural-biographical presentation in his honor. The evening will highlight Dylan and his artistic path from the perspective of spiritual science, humbly, as it applies to the single human life as a whole and to the Christian Festival of Pentecost; individuality and universal spirituality, in other words.
Biographically, the focal point will be the artistic crisis Dylan emerged from in the late 1980s, approximately 33 years ago, and how this emergence was the foundation for the steady creative growth and mastery of form accomplished on the road and in the studio throughout his 50s, 60s, and 70s, up to today.
