World Social Initiative Forum
to enhance working in the world
Conversations on the Social Challenges of Today and What We Can Do Now
The pandemic has uncovered so many systemic problems on a global scale that almost everyone sees the need for a drastic paradigm shift – showing strong resistance to return to what was “normal”.
Out of this urgency and possibility for change, the World Social Initiative Forum (WSIF) is hosting its first webinar series entitled “Living In Between Spaces” monthly until January 15, 2021, via Facebook Live.
“Living In Between Spaces” aims to host an ongoing conversation about the social issues arising out of COVID-19, the prevailing systemic racism exposed after George Floyd’s death, the climate crisis, and the oppression of individual freedom and democracy experienced worldwide.
The series will opened with WSIF Project Leader Joan Sleigh and SEKEM Managing Director Helmy Abouleish tackling “What Now?: Social Needs of Today” via WSIF Facebook Live. Joan and Helmy will discuss social distancing and unemployment that arose out of the pandemic and what these phenomena are asking us to change and develop, both as individuals and as a global community. They will also share the work and intentions of WSIF and SEKEM as partners in finding innovative and humane ways of unfolding individual potential and transforming society.
Invited speakers in the upcoming webinars are Kufunda Village-Zimbabwe Founder Marianne Knuth, Camphill Village West Coast-South Africa Managing Director James Sleigh, Anthroposophic Council for Inclusive Social Development Co-Director Bart Vanmechelen, Dinero y Conciencia Foundation Director Joan Melé, Monte Azul Founder and WSIF Co-Founder Ute Craemer, and Head of the Section of Social Sciences at the Goetheanum Gerald Häfner.
WSIF wishes not only to widen its reach through the 7-part webinar series but also to look for new partners all over the world and highlight best practices in social work. The webinars will culminate with the WSIF Network Summit in July 2021 at the Goetheanum.
Though its platform is through dialogues, “Living In Between Spaces” is beyond conversations. It is an invitation to co-create a more humane future. It is a call to action.
WSIF invites you to join this online Forum, where we strive to consciously participate at this turning point in history and find concrete ways of changing what needs to be changed, given one’s resources and local context.
After all, social transformation starts with questioning what is, exchanging ideas with others on how to enable change, and acting out of individual capacity and free will. To join the webinars, follow WSIF on Facebook .
